Mickey Huskey Twin Lakes Classic begins Thursday at Cooper Park

Ten American Legion baseball teams will gather at Cooper Park this weekend for one of Mountain Home’s biggest sporting events. The 34th annual Mickey Huskey Twin Lakes Classic will get underway for its four-day run Thursday at Lester White Field.

Pool play will run Thursday through Saturday. The pool winners and a wild card team will advance to the semifinals Sunday. The championship game is set for 3:30 Sunday.

Mountain Home Lockeroom head coach Lester White says he and the rest of the teams are excited about getting the tournament started, especially with the uncertainty of the last few months.

The Lockeroom will play the final game of the evening on Thursday. Mountain Home’s senior squad will be paired with Gossett Motors of Memphis. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:30.

The opening game of the tournament will feature Mountain Home’s junior team. MacLeod will be matched up with another area squad, as they take on Harrison. Action gets underway at 11 a.m.

In Thursday’s other games, Paragould meets Russellville at 1:15, North Central Arkansas faces Scott City, Missouri, at 3:15, and Batesville plays Pontotoc, Mississippi, at 5:15.
