Lockeroom coach gets 1,000th win as Twin Lakes Classic ends pool play

The Mickey Huskey Twin Lakes Classic wrapped up pool play Saturday night with a local coach reaching a milestone. Lester White picked up his 1,000th win as the head coach of the Mountain Home Lockeroom American Legion baseball team, after they defeated Scott City, Missouri, 7-1.

White says it feels good to reach win number 1,000, especially on the home field named after him.

Jim Strider was the winning pitcher for Mountain Home’s senior team, as he went five innings and struck out 10 batters. Offensively for the Lockeroom, Garrett Steelman had two base hits, and Tyler Guffey drove in two runs. Mountain Home went 3-0 to win Pool A, and their record for the season is 8-5.

Mountain Home’s junior squad finished tournament play on a good note, as they topped North Central Arkansas 12-4. MacLeod will return to Lester White Field Tuesday to face Harrison’s junior team.

In Saturday’s other games, Harrison fell to Memphis Gossett Motors 12-6, Russellville shut out Pontotoc, Mississippi, 2-0, and Batesville beat up on Paragould 15-2.
