A man who called 911 six times in about an hour June 2 to report a non-existent fire and imaginary people invading his house now faces charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and obstructing government operations.

Fifty-seven-year-old Amos Joseph Duquette of rural Mountain Home appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to his charges.

Duquette was arrested when Baxter County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call, and he came to the door of his residence brandishing a large hunting knife.

He told deputies unknown people had invaded his home and were still inside. Deputies checked and found no one.

They did find evidence methamphetamine had been used in the residence. Two recently used syringes were found which were reported to be wet with liquid inside.

The contents of one of the syringes field tested positive for methamphetamine. A set of digital scales with a white residue
was also found.

When questioned, Duquette denied using meth or pills, but did admit smoking marijuana before the deputies arrived.

He said he felt he had been given some “bad marijuana laced with hallucinogens.”

According to court records, Duquette has previous felony charges in Baxter County, including theft by receiving and theft of property. He spent time in the state prison system.

He was ordered to reappear in circuit court July 23.
