A Salesville man accused of attacking his girlfriend with broken glass, choking her and refusing to let her leave their residence appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Forty-seven-year-old Mark Walter Frankowitz is charged with domestic battery and kidnapping. He entered a not guilty plea before Circuit Judge Gordon Webb and was ordered to reappear in court June 25.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call June 8 reporting a domestic disturbance at a Salesville residence. The call was made at 11:40 p.m.

The deputies reported they made contact with Frankowitz at the residence and the victim at a neighbor’s home.

The victim told deputies she and Frankowitz, identified as boyfriend-girlfriend, had become involved in a physical confrontation.

Frankowitz is alleged to have broken a glass and cut a deep gash in the victim’s arm. He also choked her and would not allow her to leave the home.

The victim said she was finally able to escape and run to the neighbor’s residence to call for help.

The woman was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries, and Frankowitz was transported to jail.

His bond is set at $15,000.
