Two of the 33 Arkansas State Police (ASP) trooper recruits receiving their certified law enforcement certificates last week in a ceremony at the State Capitol have been assigned to Troop I in North Central Arkansas. Troop I includes the counties of Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard, Marion, Newton, Searcy and Stone.

Assigned to Troop I from the ASP 2020 Troop School are 35-year-old Philip Gonten of Mountain Home, a graduate of Mountain Home High School, who will be assigned to Boone County; and 31-year-old Jonathan Arnold, a graduate of the Arkansas Education Alliance, who will be assigned to Stone County.

The new troopers will report to their Highway Patrol Division assignments in July.

The recruits reported to the Arkansas State Police Training Academy at state police administrative headquarters Jan. 26. Since that time, the recruits accumulated more than 1,000 hours of specialized classroom and practical training.
