A 30-year-old Mountain Home man was arrested on a pair of felony charges related to a violent domestic disturbance that happened Saturday night near Norfork.

Dale Wayne Davis turned himself in at the Baxter County Detention Center Thursday morning on charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor charge of interfering with an emergency communications device.

Davis was released after posting a $50,000 bond and ordered to appear in Circuit Court in July.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, officers from his department responded to a call of a domestic disturbance with a firearm at a residence on Norfork River Road. After making contact with the female victim, officers found the alleged offender, identified as Davis, had left the property.

The victim said she had arrived home from work and allegedly found Davis to be very intoxicated and in a “severe state of agitation.” After an argument, Davis allegedly threatened the woman and she stated she intended to call law enforcement. At that point, Davis allegedly left the residence and the victim locked the door behind him.

Montgomery says Davis then kicked the door in, reentered the residence and the argument and threats resumed. The victim called a third party to come to the residence in an attempt to calm Davis down. That move did not work as Davis allegedly continued his violence and punched two holes in a wall. The third party left at that point and Davis took the victim’s phone so she could not call law enforcement, and retrieved a firearm from the closet.

The woman told authorities she tried to run to a neighbor’s house, but Davis ran out in front of her and stated he was taking her vehicle. The woman says she ran past him and “heard a gunshot behind her head.” The victim stopped, with Davis allegedly firing the weapon into the ground twice more. Davis then allegedly pointed the gun at the victim’s face and threw her cellphone to the ground. When the woman tried to grab the phone, Davis allegedly fired another round behind her head.

Davis took the woman’s phone and fled the scene. Investigators obtained a warrant for Davis’ arrest, leading to Thursday’s surrender.

Montgomery says a small child was present during the incident.
