A Stone County man, 47-year-old Lloyd Stair, has been sentenced to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction after entering a guilty plea to charges of rape and sexual assault.

Sixteenth Judicial District Circuit Judge Tim Weaver handed down the sentence earlier this week, after Stair entered into a negotiated plea agreement with the state. After completion of his prison sentence, Stair will be required to register as a sex offender. In December 2018, Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds said both Stair and his 35-year-old wife, Stephanie Stair, had been arrested. Stephanie Stair was charged with eight counts of permitting abuse of a minor, a Class B felony.

The prosecutor’s report filed online Wednesday in Lloyd Stair’s case notes no recommendations of promises were made regarding the co-defendant, Stephanie Stair. According to online court documents, her trial is scheduled for Sept. 2-4.

According to court documents, the arrests followed a 15-year-old female reporting she had been raped for the prior six years.

Stone County investigators made the arrests with the assistance of the Arkansas Crimes Against Children Division and the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division.
