Local student takes 1st in national essay competition

Garret Ham, a seventh grade student at Lutie R-VI School District in Theodosia, has received three Fleet Reserve Association 2019-2020 Americanism/Patriotism Essay Contest award certificates. After having won first place, seventh grade in the local contest, his essay was forwarded to the South Central Region convention, where he placed first and was the overall winner of seventh through 12th grades at this venue. The essay was then forwarded to FRA national, where he again won first place in the seventh grade competition. Ham amassed a total of $2,800 for his writing effort.
