The Viola School District has been approved for its 2020 commencement this Saturday. According to a post on the district’s Facebook page, plans are still considered tentative, but the graduation ceremony is slated for 9 a.m. in the Viola Schools gymnasium.

Everyone attending will be screened before entering the building and will be required to wear a mask, with the exception of children under the age of 10. This includes graduates and others participating in the graduation, although there will be times during the ceremony when graduates will be able to remove their masks. Currently, masks will not be provided.

Those feeling sick, coughing, or running a fever are being asked not to attend the ceremony. The ceremony will be livestreamed on YouTube through a link that will be posted at violaschool.k12.ar.us. The video will also be posted to the school’s Facebook page, after the ceremony is completed.

Due to capacity restrictions, each graduate’s family will be limited to 10 guests. There will be a preassigned section of bleachers designated for each family to sit. Other guests will not be able to attend this year’s ceremony.

Families are being asked to avoid congregating outside or inside the gymnasium before or after the ceremony.

The district is also requesting all pictures from family and guests be taken from the bleachers during this year’s ceremony. Viola Schools will have a photographer onsite taking closeup pictures.
