A man on pre-trial release in Baxter County after allegedly violating the terms of his suspended sentence on a conviction of failure to register as a child/sex offender is being held in the Stone County jail and continues to rack up additional charges.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 42-year-old Damion McBride is now charged with felony counts of intimidating a witness and tampering, as well as an enhancement for being a habitual offender.

The latest charges are connected with an incident in May that led to him facing a felony count of aggravated assault on a family or household member.

On May 23, investigators with the Mountain View Police Department were reviewing phone calls from the Stone County Detention Center where McBride has been housed since May 2.

They reportedly came across a call between McBride and the victim of the aggravated assault incident. McBride is subject to a No Contact Order prohibiting him from having contact with the victim.

Continuing their investigation, the officers identified 27 phone calls, 12 video chats and 95 text messages over an 18-day period between McBride and the victim.

Numerous exchanges allegedly show McBride threatening the victim and requesting she change her sworn statement to law enforcement.

In the aggravated assault incident, officers responded to a residence along Mitchell Street in Mountain View after receiving a call from the victim’s sister. The woman advised the victim was screaming for help.

The visibly shaking victim came to the door, with officers noting she was having a hard time catching her breath. When asked if she was ok, she responded, “No, I’m not gonna lie to you.” The woman said a man identified as McBride had been hitting and choking her.

She was transported to the Stone County Medical Center for treatment.

McBride was located hiding in the backyard of the residence behind an old sofa placed in the woods.

Online court records also indicate McBride has a third open case in Stone County. In that case, he faces a felony count of forgery in connection with allegedly trying to purchase a pack of cigarettes with a counterfeit $100 bill, as well as four misdemeanor drug-related charges.

In June, his Baxter County case was continued until Sept. 24.
