A 47-year-old Briarcliff man faces second-degree sexual assault charges, after he allegedly performed a sex act on a 9-year-old boy.

According to a news release from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Jason Adam Memegos is being held on a $50,000 bond, as well as an extradition hold from the state of Michigan for nonpayment of child support.

Sheriff John Montgomery says his office received a complaint Monday that Memegos allegedly sexually assaulted the child at a residence in Briarcliff on Saturday. During a subsequent forensic interview at the Grandma’s House Children’s Advocacy Center, the child stated Memegos had performed oral copulation on him the night before.

When interviewed by investigators, Memegos allegedly admitted to performing the act.
