The Mountain Home School Board has approved an updated academic calendar for the upcoming school year. Approval came during the board’s regular July meeting Thursday night. Classes will now begin Aug. 24. Classes in Mountain Home were originally scheduled to begin Aug. 13, but last week Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced school cannot begin prior to Aug. 24 to give personnel more time to prepare due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Superintendent Dr. Jake Long explains how the personnel policy committee’s proposal made up the seven days of instruction that had to be moved.
