A tire blowout caused a crash Saturday afternoon that killed a teen in Douglas County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Maryan C. Smith of Mansfield was killed in the accident.
The crash occurred State Highway 5, six-and-one-half miles north of Ava when a tire blew out causing Smith to lose control of the vehicle. The car ran off the roadway and overturned, ejecting Smith who was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened at 3:30.
