Former Mountain Home Public Schools’ special education teacher Mike Cully has been selected as the new administrator at Mountain Home Christian Academy (MHCA).

Cully has 21 years of experience in education, most recently serving as a department head in special education at Mountain Home High School. He also has experience as a school board member for the Cotter Public School District.

“Throughout this process, we were looking for a leader who is highly effective at improving teaching and learning, someone who has an open door and listens and is a strong problem solver,” says Joey Peglar, a member of the MHCA School Board. “Mike Cully, brings all of this and more. All of his references spoke of his passion for connecting with and mentoring kids, his respect for his colleagues and above all, his commitment to the Lord. We feel confident he will lead with excellence to help MHCA continue to grow and succeed.”

Cully earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a master’s degree in special education and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership. He is continuing his education through online classes at Harvard University.

“It is a great honor and a privilege to be named administrator of Mountain Home Christian Academy,” says Cully. “I’m very excited about this opportunity to serve the students, teachers and parents of MHCA. The classroom is key. Students benefit from rigorous and challenging education paralleled with scripture-based, Bible study to prepare their minds for the future. Personally, what has worked for me is prayer, hard work, perseverance and a good mental attitude. It’s very important that students see adults as role models who walk the walk.”

Fall classes at MHCA will begin Aug. 24.
