Another local school district will be offering free school supplies for the upcoming year. Izard County School District officials have announced supplies will be provided for all students in kindergarten through 12th grades at the campuses in Brockwell and Violet Hill.

Izard County Superintendent Fred Walker says this process actually began a year ago on a more limited basis.

Walker says it will cost the district approximately $15,000 to ensure every student has supplies, but that total would nearly double if it wasn’t for the assistance from the local churches and other donors. He adds, as the district’s administrator, it is a good feeling to know the students have the support of the community.

For most students, the supplies are expected to be distributed during the first day of classes. For virtual students, the supplies will most likely be delivered during the meal service.
