A one-vehicle accident in Howell County resulted in serious injuries to three individuals and multiple charges against the driver. Thirty-six-year-old Katherine Brotherton of Caulfield, 51-year-old Kevin Skiver of West Plains and 28-year-old Tommy Deluna of Thayer were transported to different medical facilities early Monday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Deluna was the driver of a pickup truck traveling on Howell County Road 8230, and Brotherton and Skiver were his passengers. The truck was a quarter-mile south of West Plains when it failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment. Brotherton was transported to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Skiver was sent to an unknown medical facility, and Deluna was transported by helicopter to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

Deluna was cited for driving while intoxicated (drug intoxication), failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in a motor vehicle crash and no seatbelt. Brotherton and Skiver were also not wearing seatbelts.

Deluna’s truck was totaled in the 12:15 a.m. accident.
