A man who had been arrested on several misdemeanor charges is now facing two felonies after a confrontation with jailers. Thirty-three-year-old Miles Scott of Flippin was being booked into the Baxter County Detention Center Monday morning when the incident happened.

According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, as Scott was being booked into the jail, he balked at having his ankle monitor removed. After two jailers restrained him to remove the item, Scott allegedly spit what was termed “a large amount of phlegm” on one of the jailers.

Scott was moved to the detox unit to change into his jail uniform, but he allegedly refused orders to remove his clothes and slapped a deputy’s hand three times. Scott reportedly got into the deputy’s face before he was subdued and placed back into handcuffs. Two jailers then had to undress and then dress the inmate.

Later, Scott allegedly made threats to a female nurse working at the jail and then threw toilet water through the “bean hole” where food is given to prisoners, and it hit the employee, along with the computer, monitor and keyboard she was working on.

Scott had originally been arrested by the Mountain Home Police Department after officers were called to the Windy Hills Trailer Park for a report of a man trying to fight residents. Scott allegedly damaged several vehicles and a mobile home during the fracas. At one point, a man who lives in the park had to grab a shovel to defend himself when Scott allegedly tried to pull him out of his vehicle.

Scott is charged with two felony counts of second-degree battery on a police officer, along with two counts of third-degree battery, four counts of second-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. His bond is set at $17,660.

Scott has a fairly lengthy criminal history. A previous news story indicates he was charged with setting fires in Marion County and electronic court records show he has been in trouble in Marion, Boone and Searcy counties. Charges filed against him include setting fire to fields which endangered homes, other structures, people and livestock. He was sentenced to three years in prison in that case. He has also been charged with residential burglary, terroristic threatening and refusal to submit to arrest.
