In high school golf Thursday, the Izard County boys and Salem girls picked up wins in a seven-team match at Turkey Mountain Golf Course.
In boys’ action, Izard County easily won the team event with a 136, 39 strokes ahead of second-place Cave City. Salem was third.
Individually, Drew Foster of Izard County was medalist with a 43. Also for the Cougars, Elijah Wilkes shot a 46, Landon McBride had a 47, and Gavin Stephens shot a 59. Viola’s Gage Harris finished fourth with a 46. Flippin’s top golfer was Zack Stewart with a 52. Salem was led by Conor Bullard with a 54.
On the girls’ side, Salem had a team total 163 to top Viola by 10 strokes. Flippin was third.
The medalist was Salem’s Jaiden Strong with a 52. Also for the Lady Greyhounds, Jaycie Strong had a 55, and Madison Busch had a 56. Madelyn Lindsey led Flippin with a 53. A.J. McCandlis paced Viola with a 56.
