UCA is moving forward with its fall sports programs this semester despite the Southland Conference postponing fall sports until the spring due to COVID-19. Athletic Director Dr. Brad Teague released the statement Thursday following the the league’s announcement.

Dr. Teague says the university is working with several other institutions from the Missouri Valley Conference, the Ohio Valley Conference, the Southern Conference and the Big South Conference to assemble schedules for the Bears and Sugar Bears to compete. He adds his staff has been working with the Conway Regional Health System, the campus medical staff and Conway’s other higher educational institutions for appropriate decision making in attacking the coronavirus.

UCA’s football team will be in Montgomery, Alabama, on Aug. 29 when they meet Austin Peay State in the Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff. Dr. Teague says the remaining fall schedules will be updated as soon as possible.
