Security cameras at a business and at residences, along with observant community members, have led law enforcement to the recovery of items taken in burglaries in Ozark and Douglas counties.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase says in the early morning hours of Aug. 9, a residence at Missouri Route DD and Missouri Highway 76 West in the Goodhope area was burglarized, with many items reported missing, including a side-by-side, guns and tools.

In the early morning hours Thursday, the Redbank Grocery Store on Missouri Route O just south of Missouri Route NN near Ava was burglarized, with many items of value counted as missing.

Due to the updated security cameras at the store, several security cameras belonging to residences in the area and the watchful and observant community of Goodhope, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was able to follow-up on tips and leads and talk to people of interest. The investigation led officers to Wright and Ozark counties and the recovery of several items connected to the Douglas County burglaries, as well as a case in Ozark County.

Sheriff Degase says further information will be made available upon the issuing of warrants.
