A Boone County man, 53-year-old Robert Gonzalez of Harrison, has been arrested and charged with a felony count of possession of sexually-explicit digital material. Gonzalez is also charged with a misdemeanor of harassing communications.

According to the probable cause affidavits, a criminal investigator with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was contacted advising Gonzalez had allegedly been viewing child pornography on his cellphone.

Gonzalez spoke with an investigator at the sheriff’s office late that day. He was booked on the single felony charge, with bond set at $75,000.

Through the investigation, it was learned four minor children reside in Gonzalez’s residence, and a No Contact Order was requested for any individual under 18.

Two days later, the investigator was contacted by Gonzalez’s wife reporting she had received threatening phone calls from her husband from the Boone County jail.

The woman said Gonzalez was being bonded out of the jail and demanded she bring his car to him. The woman brought her cellphone to the investigator at his request. During an interview with the officer, the woman reportedly told him her husband told her his New York family with mob connections was getting him out. She told the investigator Gonzalez allegedly said she did not want to “mess with his New York family and then laughed.”

She saId Gonzalez told her his New York family belongs to the mob in New Jersey. She said Gonzalez has a “very violent temper,” and she has observed him causing physical harm to others.

The woman said Gonzalez has told her if he ever goes to jail, when he gets out, he will kill the one that sent him there.

After a conversation with the prosecuting attorney’s office, Gonzalez was arrested and charged with harassing communications

He made his initial appearance in Boone County Circuit Court Aug. 14. Online court records indicate he is represented by the McDaniel Wolff and Benca law firm of Little Rock.
