A new site for early voting in Baxter County has been identified for the upcoming General Election to accommodate restrictions under the COVID-19 pandemic.

Baxter County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese says First United Methodist Church, located at 605 West Sixth Street, will replace the courthouse as one of the three sites for early voting.

In a visit with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news last week, Reese said COVID-19 would require a replacement site for the courthouse.

In addition to the First United Methodist Church, Twin Lakes Plaza, located at 769 Business Highway 62, and the Baxter County Election Commission office, located at 213 East Fifth Street, will serve as early voting locations.

For those hoping to avoid crowds during the two-week early voting period, Reese offered some advice based on her observations from previous elections.

Hours will be from 8 until 6 Monday through Friday and 10 until 4 on Saturdays.

Reese spoke extensively with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot’s Karen Hopper last week about the upcoming election. In future reports, we’ll hear from her about absentee voting, the challenges of securing poll workers because of the coronavirus and other preparations due to the pandemic.
