It has been a long time coming. Mountain Home’s 41-7 win over Nettleton Friday night snapped a 23-game losing streak dating back to week eight of the 2017 season, when the Bombers beat L.R. Hall 49-6. The last time Mountain Home gave up seven or fewer points was that game, and that game was also the last time the Bombers scored as many as 41 points.

Three seniors played key roles in the win. Running back Gage Hershberger rushed for three touchdowns, quarterback Bryce McKay ran for a score and threw two TD passes, and middle linebacker Brock Bogy made multiple tackles for loss.

It was Nettleton who scored first, putting together a 15-play, 72-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead.

But the Bombers changed their offensive tempo, going to a hurry-up offense to explode for 28 points in the second quarter. McKay got Mountain Home on the board with a 34 yard run, Hershberger had two of his TD runs, and McKay hooked up with Logen Walker for a touchdown pass to put the Bombers up 28-7 at halftime.

In the second half, Hershberger had his third TD run of the night, and McKay hit Anthony Mojica with a 19-yard scoring strike.

On the night, Mountain Home racked up 451 yards of total offense. McKay rushed for 163 yards and threw for 163 yards. Hershberger tallied 108 yards on the ground.

Mountain Home is now 1-1 on the season, while the Raiders fall to 1-2. The Bombers will host Batesville next week to wrap up non-conference play.
