Baxter Healthcare presented a $25,000 check to the Mountain Home Education Foundation Wednesday to create an endowed scholarship in memory of Brandon Padgett, a longtime mechanical engineer at Baxter Healthcare who died in July.

Padgett’s wife, Angie, and three children, Faith, Zachary and Trinity were present for the presentation.

Prior to the presentation, Plant Manager Mark Meyer spoke to the Padgett family about the impact Padgett had on Baxter Healthcare and the community.

“I only got to know him for nine months, but he was an incredible member of our team, and we have felt the loss deeply,” says Meyer. “We are so proud to be able to create this scholarship in his memory.”

Padgett served as a mentor for Bomb Squad for years. The Bomb Squad is the Mountain Home High School robotics team that competes through FIRST Robotics competitions.

Kelly Lucas, human resources director at Baxter Healthcare, says Padgett was passionate about teaching young people engineering concepts and life skills.

“Brandon wanted to share his love of engineering with the Bomb Squad team members, but he also just enjoyed being around them and serving as a positive role model for them,” she says.

The endowment is a the perfect way to memorialize Pagdett, according to Jennifer Seaman, executive director of the Mountain Home Education Foundation.

“This gift is an incredible way to continue the legacy that Brandon built,” she says. “He was so important to so many within our school district and our community. This gift will continue Brandon’s work by providing educational opportunities for engineering students for years to come.”
