Salem volleyball sweeps Alpena

The Salem High School volleyball team got back to the .500 mark Monday night with a 3-1 win at Alpena. The Lady Greyhounds are now 4-4 overall and 3-4 in league play after winning by scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-22.

Pilar Merino finished with six kills, Erica Tudor had three kills and two blocks, Hannah Guffey and Mackenzie Hill each had two kills, Grace Benedict finished with four assists and 11 digs, Samantha Guiltner had 13 digs, and Shaw Bassham collected 10 digs.

In the junior high match, Salem topped Alpena 25-21 and 26-24. Maddie Keen had three kills, and Olivia Smith had nine aces and 14 digs. The Junior Lady Greyhounds improve to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
