After seeing Mountain Home rebound from an early 14-0 deficit to tie the game, Lake Hamilton’s defense stepped up in the second half to lead the Wolves to a 28-14 victory. Lake Hamilton shut the Bombers out in the final 24 minutes, something no other team has been able to do.

It was Lake Hamilton who dominated the first quarter, scoring two touchdowns in 2:13, the second following a Mountain Home turnover, to build a 14-0 lead. The Wolves were driving for what looked like another score, but they lost their second fumble inside the Mountain Home 10-yard line.

Mountain Home owned the second quarter, with a 1-yard touchdown run by Bryce McKay, and then McKay hooked up with Logen Walker on a 31-yard touchdown pass, and the teams were tied 14-14 at the half.

Mountain Home got the ball to start the second half and picked up a couple of quick first downs before losing its second fumble of the night.

Lake Hamilton would take the lead for good midway through the third quarter, when Owen Miller scored a 38-yard touchdown, his second of the game.   The Wolves would put the game away, when quarterback Grant Bearden punched it in from 1 yard out with just over four minutes to play.

Mountain Home falls to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in the 5A West. Lake Hamilton improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in league play.

Mountain Home returns home next Friday to host Greenwood.
