Greenwood dominates in win over Mountain Home

Greenwood came into Mountain Home Friday night ranked number four overall in the state and number one in Class 6A, and they showed why in a dominating performance. Brad Haworth has the details.

Greenwood needed just two minutes to score its first touchdown and went on to find the end zone on the Bulldogs’ first six possessions en route to a 40-7 win over Mountain Home, scoring all of their points in the first half.

As impressive as the Bulldogs’ offense was, their defensive was just as impressive, holding the Bombers offense to just 56 yards in the first half and 165 yards in the game. Meanwhile, Greenwood’s offense racked up an impressive 445 yards in the first half and finished with 544 yards. The Bulldogs had 21 first downs in the first half.

Quarterback J.D. Richmond started the scoring with a 3-yard run and finished the first half with three touchdown passes and 324 yards through the air. Running back Hunter Wilkinson ran for a score and caught a touchdown pass with 91 rushing yards.

The Bombers’ lone score came on their first drive of the second half, when Bryce McKay dove in from 1 yard out. Gage Hershberger finished with 76 rushing yards on 20 carries.

The Bombers fall to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the 5A West. Greenwood improves to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in league play.

Mountain Home will continue its home stand next week against Van Buren.
