The Mountain Home Junior High football team fell behind early but rallied to defeat Central Arkansas Christian 36-18 Thursday night. The Junior Mustangs jumped out to a 10-0 lead early, before Mountain Home rallied and rolled up 433 yards of total offense on the night.

Quarterback Cade Yates had another big night, throwing for 211 yards and two touchdowns on nine of 11 passing, and he rushed for 38 yards and another score.

Chris Hubbard led the receivers with 89 yards and a touchdown, while Drew Lamey had 118 receiving yards, which included a 78-yard touchdown.

On the ground, Landon White had 56 yards, a touchdown and a two-point conversion, and William Cottengim had 55 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive side, Cottengim had 11 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble; Robert Dover finished with six tackles and four sacks, and Ryder McClain had six tackles.

Junior Bombers head coach Greg Crow says, “You find out what you are made of when you fall behind 10-0 in the first quarter on the road. Proud of our kids for fighting back and getting themselves back in the game because it sure didn’t start well. We have to do a better job getting off the bus and playing, and that is on me. We had a ton of mental errors in the first quarter and missed tackles, which put us in a hole. We have to do a better job of preparing during the week. I’m super proud of the second half the kids played, we refocused and got going in the third quarter. But it was good for us to have to play from behind. We showed some character for sure.”

The Junior Bombers improve to 5-0 and will play again Oct. 12 at Marshfield, Missouri.
