The Class 2A State Girls’ Golf Tournament was held last week at the Golf Course on Turkey Mountain in Horseshoe Bend, and it turned out to be a good showing for several local athletes.

Melbourne’s run of three consecutive state titles came to an end. Conway Christian had a total of 306 and edged out the Lady Bearkatz by one stroke. Salem was a close third place at 309.

Presli Webb of Conway St. Joseph was the medalist after beating Salem’s Jaycie Strong in a playoff. Other All-State finishers include Peyton Manry of Melbourne in fourth with a 97, Madelyn Lindsey of Flippin in seventh with a 100 and Melbourne’s Allyson Smith in a three-way tie for eighth place with a 102.
