The Mountain Home Pilots youth football program picked up two wins playing three games at Salem on Saturday to begin action in the ARK-MO league.

Mountain Home’s fifth and sixth graders ended up getting past the Greyhounds 12-8. The Pilots got the scoring started on the fifth play from scrimmage with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Colton Johnson to Trae Holliday. Holliday punched it in the end zone again on a 50-yard run with six minutes left. Salem scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion with two minutes remaining. Mountain Home gave the ball up on downs 15 seconds later, but the Pilots’ defense was able to recover a Greyhound fumble with 50 seconds left to secure the win.

Defensively for Mountain Home, Sam Bradley broke up a couple of passes to keep Salem from scoring on the last drive. Johnson and Isais Medina Flores each recorded two sacks.

The Pilots improve to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the league.

Mountain Home’s fourth graders did not fare as well, as they fell to the Greyhounds 26-0. The Pilots fall to 2-1 on the year and 0-1 in ARK-MO.

Mountain Home began the day with its third graders topping Salem 16-6. Liam Bradley had touchdown runs of 45 and 6 yards for the Pilots, and he got the 2-point conversion after the first score. Hudson Speer also converted a 2-pointer after the second touchdown. The Greyhounds’ only score came on the last play of the game. In addition, Mountain Home forced a Salem fumble early in the second half. The Pilots are now 1-0 in the league.

Mountain Home’s next games will be Saturday at Highland.
