15 combined TDs in Arkansas State’s Sun Belt victory

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) – Layne Hatcher threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns, starter Logan Bonner added 197 yards passing and three scores, and Arkansas State beat Georgia State 59-52 on Thursday night in a game featuring 15 combined touchdowns.

Arkansas State set a single-game program record with eight passing touchdowns – including wide receiver Roshauud Paul’s 22-yard pass to Lincoln Pare.

Jonathan Adams Jr. made 15 catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns for Arkansas State (3-2, 1-1 Sun Belt). Dahu Green added 172 yards receiving and two scores and both of Pare’s catches went for TDs.

The teams combined for 1,192 yards.

Cornelious Brown IV threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns for shorthanded Georgia State (1-2, 0-2). The Panthers’ starting running back Destin Coates, ranked fourth in the nation at 131.5 yards per game, did not play along with WR Cornelius McCoy. Defensive coordinator Nate Fuqua also did not make the trip to Jonesboro.

The Sun Belt record for total combined points is 128, set in 2001 when Middle Tennessee State beat Idaho 70-58.
