District tournament play began Monday for area high school volleyball teams.
Cotter secured a state tournament berth after winning its opener in the 2A-North District Tournament. The top-seeded Lady Warriors beat Marshall in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-5.
Salem will be Cotter’s opponent in the district semifinals following a four-set win. Yellville-Summit’s season came to an end, after the Lady Greyhounds posted scores of 24-26, 25-8, 25-16 and 25-20.
Flippin was also able to advance to the 2A-North semifinals. The Lady Bobcats eliminated Izard County on Monday.
Valley Springs won its first match in the 3A-Northwest District Tournament. The Lady Tigers clinched a state bid by defeating Bergman in four sets.
