Viola boys top Mammoth Spring; Calico Rock boys beat Sloan-Hendrix

The Viola High School boys’ basketball team was able to get a win at home Friday topping Mammoth Spring 79-54.  Nathaneal Rogers led the Bears with 12 points, Aidan Burns scored 11, and Cole Young added 10. Mammoth Spring falls to 0-2 on the season and will host Sloan-Hendrix next Friday for homecoming.Calico Rock’s boys had a successful road trip, as they went to Imboden. The Pirates defeated Calico Rock by a final of 70-58.

Izard County came away with one win as the Cougars took on Valley Springs in three games on the campus of North Arkansas College in Harrison.
The senior boys’ game was the lone victory for the Cougars, as they defeated the Tigers 80-57. Izard County was led by Caleb Faulkner with 33 points, Coby Everett had 28, and Noah Everett chipped in 10.

Izard County did not fare as well in the senior girls’ contest. The Lady Cougars fell to Valley Springs by a score of 58-23.
The junior girls’ game needed an extra period to decide a winner. Izard County lost to Valley Springs 39-35 in overtime.

Lead Hill’s high school teams picked up a sweep at Eureka Springs. The boys’ game ended with the Tigers beating the Highlanders 55-45. Lead Hill also took the girls’ contest over Eureka Springs 44-39.

Bergman’s boys were able to win a high-scoring game on their home floor. The Panthers edged out Jacksonville Lighthouse 75-73.

The Bergman girls were able to invoke the mercy rule on the road. The Lady Panthers beat up on Maynard 80-30.
