Yellville-Summit falls to Magazine; Salem wins at Mountain View

The Yellville-Summit High School football team wrapped up the home portion of its season on a rough note Friday. The Panthers fell to Magazine by a final of 41-14. Yellville-Summit drops to 2-6 on the season and 1-4 in the 2A-4 and will travel to Coal Hill next week to meet Johnson County Westside.

Salem went on the road and picked up another conference win. The Greyhounds defeated Mountain View 47-22. Salem improves to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the 3A-2 and will step out of league play next Friday heading to Cherry Valley to face Cross County. The Yellowjackets fall to 4-4 and 0-3. They’ll go to Searcy next week to take on Riverview.

Melbourne had a tough home finale playing the top-ranked team in Class 3A. The Bearkatz fell to Harding Academy 35-12. Melbourne is now 5-2 on the year and 2-2 in the 3A-2 and will wrap up the regular season in two weeks at Mountain View.

Harrison was able to squeak out a road victory in overtime. The Goblins, ranked fifth in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media, got past Morrilton 35-34. Harrison improves to 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in the 5A-West and will host Clarksville for its home finale next Friday.
