Thursday basketball results include Izard County boys, both Flippin, Viola teams getting wins

In high school basketball Thursday night, the Izard County boys won a match up of two of the top teams in the area with an 83-76 win at Bergman. Coby Everett led the way for the Cougars with 31 points, Caleb Faulkner scored 22, and Noah Everett added 15. Izard County is now 4-0.




For Bergman, Elijah Royce led the way with 25 points and nine rebounds, Walker Patton scored 21, Asher Fultz scored 18 points and had 7 assists, and Anthony Hodge added 10 points.

In the girls’ game, Bergman downed Izard County 63-35.

Flippin won both senior high games against Calico Rock. The Bobcats were 56-53 winners to improve to 2-1, as they got 20 points from Preston Belding. The Pirates were led by the 13 points of Riley Whiteaker, as they fall to 2-1.

In the girls’ game, Flippin topped Calico Rock 50-38. Leah Still pumped in 27 points for the Lady Bobcats. The Lady Pirates, who fall to 0-3, got 16 points from Kachina McDole.

Viola won both senior high games at home against Kingston. The Longhorns blew out Kingston 92-38.

In the girls’ game, Viola was a 67-34 winner to improve to 4-0. Lindsay Browning led a quartet of players in double figures with 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists; Sami McCandlis finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists; A.J. McCandlis had 12 points and six rebounds; and Macey Perryman scored 12 points.
