Viola High School basketball teams sweep Jasper; Mammoth Spring sweeps Sloan-Hendrix

Viola was able to pick up a pair of high school basketball wins Friday at home over Jasper.
The girls’ game ended with the Lady Longhorns beating the Lady Pirates 77-39. Lindsey Browning led Viola with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Sami McCandlis scores 15 points, Macey Perryman had 14, and A.J. McCandlis added 12 points. The Lady Longhorns improve to 5-0 on the season.
Viola’s boys followed with a win of their own. The Longhorns defeated Jasper by a score of 68-44.
Both Viola teams will host Rural Special next Friday.

The Mammoth Spring High School teams had a successful homecoming, as they swept Sloan-Hendrix.
The boys’ game ended with the Bears topping the Greyhounds 59-52. Mammoth Spring was led by Aidan Burns with 30 points, and Cole Young chipped in 19. The Bears will host Armorel on Monday.
Mammoth Spring also took the girls’ game 47-37 over Sloan-Hendrix. Megyn Upton was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 15 points, and Chevelle Graves finished with 11.

Friday was a rough night at home for Rural Special’s boys. The Rebels ended up falling to Wonderview 66-13.

Lead Hill captured two wins hosting Life Way Christian for three games.
The night ended with the senior boys’ game, as the Tigers pounded the Warriors 64-41. Will Mancinelli paced Lead Hill with 27 points, and Cody Paul added 10.
The senior girls’ game went to overtime, as Lead Hill was edged out by Life Way Christian 49-48. The Lady Tigers were led by Kelsey Rogers with 28 points.
The evening started with a good night for Lead Hill’s junior boys. The Junior Tigers picked up a 28-15 victory over Life Way Christian.

The Bergman High School teams both put the mercy rule in effect in their wins over Deer. The Panthers dominated the boys’ game 79-17 over the Antlers. Bergman’s girls also destroyed Deer 57-27.

Valley Springs’ girls invoked the mercy rule in their game at North Arkansas College in Harrison. The Lady Tigers blew past Alpena 58-28.
