Mountain Home High School Career Academies’ 12th-annual “Freedom is Not Free” Veterans Program has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been moved to Feb. 4 at 9 a.m.

Veterans will be recognized and honored by students, faculty, community members and political officials during the event. The Mountain Home High School band will perform the Star Spangled Banner and other patriotic songs, and the high school choir will sing the service songs of each military branch.

The ROTC Honor Guard will demonstrate the proper technique of folding an American flag and explain what each fold represents. The American Legion Honor Guard will shoot the ceremonial volleys to represent the 21-gun salute. Guest dignitaries will also be present to show their support for veterans.

Honorary Mountain Home High School diplomas will be offered to veterans unable to complete their high school education due to service obligations. Veterans interested in receiving a diploma during the event can contact event coordinator and ROTC instructor Bud Zorman at 870-425-1215 before Jan. 20.
