Monday was a rough night for the Cotter High School basketball teams, as they hosted Valley Springs. The Warriors fell to the Tigers 71-34 in the boys’ game. Cotter also lost to Valley Springs in the girls’ contest 65-33.
Izard County swept all three games at Calico Rock in the conference openers for both teams. The Cougars ran their record to 5-0 with a 75-58 victory. Caleb Faulkner led the Cougars’ scoring with 22 points, Gunner Gleghorn finished with 11, and Noah Everett scored 10.
In the senior girls’ game, Izard County jumped out to a 36-5 halftime lead and went on to win 53-20.
Izard County topped Calico Rock in the junior girls’ contest 43-24.
Mammoth Spring’s boys picked up a win at home, as they defeated Bay 78-69. Aidan Burns led the Bears with 25 points, Logan Doss scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Cole Young added 20 points.
