An Izard County man is dead following a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in rural Independence County. Seventy-year-old Robert Sawyers of Pineville was pronounced dead at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
According to the Arkansas State Police, Sawyers was attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve on Arkansas Highway 25 and lost control. His motorcycle cross the centerline, left the roadway and struck a ditch embankment.
The weather was clear, and the road was dry during the 1:57 p.m. accident.
