17 area athletes, 3 coaches make Farm Bureau Awards watch lists

The watch lists for the Farm Bureau Awards to honor Arkansas’s top offensive player, top defensive player and coach of the year have been released. The list includes 17 area athletes and three area coaches.

Mountain Home first-year coach Steve Ary is on the watch list of coaches in Classes 7A and 6A. The Bombers are also represented on the offense by Bryce McKay, Gage Hershberger and Logen Walker and on the defense by Brock Bogy, Tatem Beshears and Ofa Valdez.

In Class 3A, the offense watch list includes Salem’s Gavin Guiltner, Melbourne’s Ryan Worsham and Mountain View’s J’Air Jackson. The area defensive players are Darius Brown of Salem and Ty Cooper, Eli Harrell and Slayton Wheeler of Melbourne. The Bearkatz were also represented on the coaches’ list by Kevin McCarn.

Harrison head coach Joel Wells is on the Class 5A watch list, and he’s joined by four of his athletes. Cole Keylon and Noah Moix are on the offensive list, and Anthony Allen and Trey Richardson are among those to watch on defense.

The staff at Hooten’s Arkansas Football will select three finalists for each category. All 45 finalists and their families will be invited to attend the virtual awards on Dec. 21.
