Chamber slates ‘Light Up Mountain Home’ contest

The Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce will present “Light Up Mountain Home,” a holiday light competition.

The chamber invites participants to “deck your home or business this Christmas season with lights, lawn ornaments, inflatables and more to help spread holiday cheer.”

Residential prize categories include The Griswold (most lights) and People’s Choice awards, both of which include a $100 prize. The Griswold Award will be voted on by sponsors, while the public will vote via text for the People’s Choice. Commercial entrants will compete for the Best in Show Award, to be voted on by Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams. The winner will receive a plaque, bragging rights and a donation to the charity of their choice.

Residential prizes are sponsored by North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, with Elmcroft Senior Living of Mountain Home sponsoring the commercial category.

The contest is open to all residents and citizens in the city of Mountain Home. Registration is free and the deadline to register is Dec. 4. Homes must be decorated by Dec. 7. To register, call the chamber at 870-425-5111 or email

To vote in the contest, each house will have a number, and residents can vote by texting the house number to 580-200-3658. Voting opens on Dec. 7 and closes Dec. 31. Only one vote will be allowed per phone number, and winners will be contacted and announced on social media.
