Salem eliminated, Melbourne advances in state playoffs

Salem watched its season come to an end Friday in the Class 3A State Playoffs. The Greyhounds went on the road and fell to Paris 40-32. Salem’s final record is 5-5.

Melbourne was also playing its postseason opener in Class 3A using the home field to its advantage. The Bearkatz beat up on Cedarville 38-8. Melbourne improves to 8-2 on the year and will travel to Prescott next week.

Harrison was able to pull off a victory inside the final minute to begin the Class 5A State Playoffs. The Goblins scored the go-ahead touchdown with 21 seconds left and held on for a 21-14 win over Camden Fairview. Harrison is now 10-1 and returns to F.S. Garrison Stadium next Friday to meet White Hall.

In Missouri, West Plains was eliminated from the quarterfinals of the Class 4 State Playoffs. The Zizzers were edged out by Helias Catholic 36-30. West Plains’ season comes to an end at 10-2.
