The Mountain Home High School boys’ basketball team dominated on Tuesday to get its first win of the season. The Bombers beat up on Paragould 63-35 in its home opener.

The game had three ties early on. Mountain Home never trailed in the game, and once they went up 9-6, they would never relinquish their lead. The Bombers led 23-10 after the first quarter, but they were outscored by the Rams 10-5 in the second period. Mountain Home came out firing after haftime, hitting five three-pointers in the third quarter and outscoring Paragould 23-9 in the period. The Bombers pulled further away in the final quarter, as they eventually invoked the mercy rule.

Mat Jones led Mountain Home with 22 points, and Wyatt Gilbert added 14. No one was in double figures for the Rams.

Paragould remains winless in five games on the season. The Bombers improve to 1-2, and they’ll wrap up their two-game home stand on Friday, as Heritage comes in from Rogers.
