Cotter splits with Yellville-Summit; Norfork wins 2 of 3 at Izard County

The Cotter High School basketball teams ended up with a split Tuesday at Yellville-Summit.
The Lady Warriors took the girls’ game 58-33 over the Lady Panthers. Cotter was led by Kate Cheek with 17 points, Becca Benedict scored 14, and Kaylee Crownover chipped in 10. The Lady Warriors improve to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the 2A-1.
Cotter did not fare as well in the boys’ contest. The Warriors fell to Yellville-Summit by a final of 63-44.

Norfork was able to take two of three games at Izard County’s homecoming.
The senior girls’ game ended with the Lady Panthers getting past the Lady Cougars 51-47. Cassidy Coleman was Izard County’s top scorer with 15 points, and Abbi Marlin finished with 12.
Norfork’s only loss was in the senior boys’ game, as they fell to Izard County 60-41. Caleb Faulkner and Coby Everett paced the Cougars with 18 points each, and Gunner Gleghorn ended up with 12 points, including a dunk. Izard County remains unbeaten in six games on the season.
The evening began with Norfork’s junior boys beating Izard County 48-36. The Junior Cougars were led by Noah Mosley with 14 points, and Lane Mohlke added 11.

The Flippin High School boys were dominant on their home floor. The Bobcats put the mercy rule in effect, as they beat up on Alpena 69-36.

The Gainesville boys also had a lopsided win at home. The Bulldogs destroyed Bradleyville by a score of 88-56.

Dora’s boys came away with a victory from a game that went down to the wire. The Falcons edged out Summersville 66-65.

Both of Viola’s girls teams picked up wins at Timbo.
The high school game ended with the Lady Longhorns topping the Lady Tigers 54-20. Lindsey Browning and Sami McCandlis were Viola’s leading scorers with 20 points each. The Lady Longhorns are 11-1 on the year and 3-0 in the 1A-2.
Viola also won the junior high game over Timbo 44-29. Audrey Newberry led the Junior Lady Longhorns with 14 points, and Haylee Crotts and Kenzie Hall each chipped in 12.

The Salem High School teams ended up with a split at White County Central. The Lady Greyhounds pounded the Lady Bears 60-20. Salem had a different result in the boys’ game, as they lost to White County Central 56-25.

Calico Rock’s high school squads were swept at Lead Hill. The Pirates lost the boys’ game to the Tigers 64-50. The night wasn’t any better for Calico Rock’s girls, as they fell to Lead Hill 60-33.

Mammoth Spring’s boys were able to beat up on Crowley’s Ridge Academy with an 86-34 decision for their eighth straight win. The Bears will be back on the home floor Friday, when they face Marked Tree.

The Marshall girls had a tough night at home. The Lady Bobcats fell to Bigelow 73-32.

Bergman High School ended up with a sweep over Berryville.
The Panthers squeaked by the Bobcats 71-68 in the boys’ game. Bergman was led by Elijah Royce with 22 points and 11 rebounds, Asher Fultz scored 20 points, and Walker Patton ended up with 15. The Panthers improve to 7-3 on the season.
Bergman also won the girls’ contest over Berryville 70-56.

Valley Springs’ girls ended up with a tough result. The Lady Tigers lost to Fort Smith Northside 70-51.

The Omaha boys ended up falling to West Fork 54-44. Kaden Lee was the Eagles’ top scorer with 15 points, and Edden Moon had 10.
