Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jake Long has tested positive for COVID-19.Long’s symptoms – a loss of taste and smell – began Sunday evening, and he was tested on Monday. Long is quarantined at home and has no close contacts outside of his household.

“I am thankful to only be experiencing mild symptoms,” he says. “I know there are many others who have had much more challenging battles with this illness, and I recognize that I am blessed.”

Long should be able to return to work sometime next week.

“I think it is important for people to remember that during this time – no matter how hard we work – there will still be cases of this virus,” he adds. “That means that in addition to following the precautions to prevent the illness, you also need to take any symptoms – even if they’re mild – seriously. Get tested if you have symptoms or believe you may have been exposed.”
