Buffalo National River (BNR) officials are reminding the public the Kyles Landing Road is temporarily closed from the National Park Service boundary to the campground for road construction. Officials are asking those in the area to not attempt to go around or park in front of the barricades.
In a Facebook post, BNR officials say drivers of multiple vehicles have gotten stuck in the construction zone and have required a tow truck to haul them out of the mud. Every time this happens, it delays the construction work.
In December, BNR announced the full closure of the Kyles Landing Road expected to last approximately one month.
The closure will allow maintenance crews to resurface the road. There will be no vehicular access to Kyles Landing during this time, but thru-hikers and thru-paddlers may access the campground by trail or by river.
When planning a trip to the Buffalo, park officials say it’s always a good idea to check the website for park alerts, closures and conditions at https://www.nps.gov/buff/planyourvisit/conditions.htm.
