The Lutie High School boys’ basketball team started the new year on a rough note Monday playing their opener in the Seymour Bank Winter Classic. The Indians fell to top-seeded Chadwick 72-19. Lutie will move on to the consolation bracket on Thursday facing Cabool.
Dora’s girls had a successful night on their home floor. The Lady Falcons squeaked by Chadwick by a final of 42-41.
The Dora boys did not fare as well as their female counterparts, as they went on the road and lost to Mammoth Spring 82-38. Aidan Burns led the Bears with 23 points, Zack Flynn scored 16, and Logan Doss and Justin Skaggs added 11 each.
Marshall’s girls had a dominating win at home, as they put the mercy rule in effect. The Lady Bobcats routed LISA Academy North 75-14.
