MH Chamber encourages members to make community award nominations

The list of cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic now includes the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet and Membership Meeting.The annual event includes the announcement of eight community awards.

Chamber officials say in the organization’s newsletter despite the cancellation of the banquet and membership meeting, they would still like to honor those who are an inspiration to the community and a credit to their profession.

Chamber members are invited to nominate candidates in the eight categories–Outstanding Business or Industry, Outstanding Organization, Educator of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Medical Professional of the Year, Spirit Award, Jim Gaston Friend of Tourism and Volunteer of the Year

The chamber’s board of directors will vote during its January meeting. The winning recipients will be recognized virtually and in local media in January.

Nominations should be sent to Angela Broome at angela@enjoymountainhome.com or call the chamber office at (870) 425-5111. The last day to nominate is Friday.

Outstanding Business or Industry

The Outstanding Business Award recognizes a company that has shown growth or
sustainability of its business with strong employee relations and a record of giving back to the community.

Outstanding Organization

The Outstanding Organization Award recognizes a local not-for-profit organization. The recipient is selected for its commitment to putting service above self by serving others in the local communities. This outstanding organization provides benefits that are an invaluable asset and serve as a model for other organizations.

Educator of the Year (includes workforce development, etc.)

The Educator of the Year Award recognizes a local individual. This person is dedicated but is also proactive in assuring that the educational needs of his/her students are met.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year (up to 40 years old)

The recipient of this award has demonstrated success as measured by sales and profit; increased employment opportunities; developed and/or utilized innovative or creative business method; innovativeness of product or service and contributes to community-oriented projects.

Medical Professional of the Year

The Medical Professional of the Year honors a unique, respected individual who has given unselfishly of his/herself to promote the best possible healthcare to persons of the Twin Lakes area.

Spirit Award

The Spirit Award recognizes an individual or entity that acts as an ambassador to the Twin Lakes Area, continuously promoting the local community of “Three Rivers, Two Lakes, One Beautiful Life.” The recipient of this award captivates individuals, families, businesses and/or industry with the thrill of living/working in the Twin Lakes Area.

Jim Gaston Friend of Tourism Award

The recipient of this award promotes the Twin Lakes Area at each and every occasion and invests himself/herself in the area to make it a better place not only for visitors but for all of us. The Friend of Tourism not only participates in this industry, but his or her true goal is to share the natural beauty of our area, while teaching others to enjoy it and to treat it with respect.

Volunteer of the Year Award

This award is designed to honor an individual performing outstanding community service, largely without recognition. The recipient may volunteer in the public and/or private sector with longevity of service playing a role in the selection.
