Portions of the Twin Lakes Area are experiencing winter weather Thursday, as some local schools have called off on-site instruction and have switched to digital learning only. A winter weather advisory is in effect for Baxter, Marion and Stone counties in North Central Arkansas until 6 p.m. and for Southern Missouri until 3. In addition, a winter storm warning is in effect for Searcy, Boone and Newton counties until 6 p.m.
Meteorologist Thomas Jones of the National Weather Service office in North Little Rock says some areas are already seeing a mixture of rain and snow.

Jones says he expects the higher elevation areas to have the worst travel hazards, but those in the lower areas will need to exercise caution as well.

IDriveArkansas is reporting two area highways with snow on the surface. U.S. Highway 65 reportedly has snow from its entire length in Searcy County to Harrison, and Arkansas Highway 7 is experiencing snowfall from Harrison through its entire length in Newton County.
