Friday was a rough night for the Mountain Home High School basketball teams, as they were swept at Greenwood.

The Bulldogs scored the winning basket with just a few ticks left of the boys’ game to get past the Bombers 49-48. Mountain Home had the lead for much of the game, but the margin never got into double digits. Greenwood went on top late in the final period on a layup by Braden Stein. The Bombers got the lead back on a jumper in the right corner by Wyatt Gilbert, but on the Bulldogs’ next possession, Sam Forbus drove into the paint and shot a tough layup. The ball bounced off the front of the iron and fell through the net with 3.8 seconds left. Mountain Home had one more chance to win the game, as Dawson Tabor threw a cross-court inbound pass to Reed Ellison. Ellison quickly got the ball to Luke Proctor in the left corner, but his jumper came up short, and the Bulldogs escaped with a one-point win.
Gilbert led the Bombers with 18 points, and Proctor added 16. For Greenwood, Forbus scored 16 points, and Caleb Ligon chipped in 11.
Mountain Home falls to 5-9 on the season and 1-4 in the 5A-West. The Bulldogs improve to 6-9 and 2-3.

The night wasn’t any better for the Lady Bombers, as they fell to Greenwood 70-35. The moment the game began, the Lady Bulldogs proved why they are one of the state’s top-ranked teams. Mountain Home was held scoreless and forced into over 10 turnovers in the opening period. The Lady Bulldogs pulled further away and invoked the mercy rule the moment the fourth quarter began.
No one was in double figures for the Lady Bombers. Greenwood was led by Kinley Fisher with 16 points, Ally Sockey had 14, and Abby Summitt finished with 10.
Mountain Home drops to 2-14 on the year and 1-4 in the league. The Lady Bulldogs are now 13-3 and 4-0.

Mountain Home will be back on the road Tuesday against Greenbrier.
